Senator Orji Kalu Distances Self From Purported List of Ahmad Lawan Campaign Organisation

Chief Whip of the Senate, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu has distanced himself from a recent list which circulated on social media and which announced him as the Chairman of the Ahmad Lawan Campaign Organisation.

President of the Senate and Chairman of the National Assembly, Senator Ahmad Lawan is one of the Presidential aspirants on the platform of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

In a statement which he personally signed, the lawmaker who represents Abia North in the Senate said; "My attention has been drawn to a list of committee Chairmen of Ahmad Lawan Campaign Organization in which I was also mentioned as the Director General. 

"The list should be disregarded as no authorization was given to the effect of its publication. 

"As the Chairman of the meeting held at my instance, it is important to notify the general public that we are not yet in the Campaign proper . A committee will be inaugurated to that effect should our most preferred candidate, Senator Ahmad Lawan emerge as the presidential candidate of All Progressives Congress (APC). 

"I am also running for election in my senatorial district and would rather recommend a sitting Governor who is not running for an election to chair the campaign team at the right time. 

"Several private visitors who were not even part of the meeting were also reported to have been in attendance. Senator Betty Apiafi  just as Senator Uche Ekwunife who visited on a different bipartisan matter concerning the senate  was also mentioned. 

"It is mischief to have included these names  as part of Ahmad Lawan Campaign Organization" he concluded.

14-yr-old Ese Oruru regains freedom

Following a directive Monday afternoon by the Inspector General of Police to the Commissioner of Police, Kano State, Mohammed Katsina to liase with the State’s Emirate Council and relevant persons, the 14-year-old Ese Oruru was last night rescued from her abductor. Confirming the rescue in a telephone chat Monday, Force Public relations Officer, ACP Olabisi Kolawole disclosed that the Inspector General of Police has directed that Ese Oruru be giving protection adding that she will be flown to Abuja tomorrow (Tuesday to be re-united with her family. Already, it was gathered that the IGP has made arrangements to move the family to Abuja to re-unite with their daughter.

I Never Attacked Obi - Ekweremadu

Former Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Ike Ekweremadu, says at no time did he attack the former governor of Anambra State and presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Mr. Peter Obi, asking the public to discountenance such reports as the work of mischief-makers, who deliberately twisted his innocuous statement out of context. In a statement signed by his media aide, Uche Anichukwu,  Ekweremadu said he had no reason whatsoever to attack Obi’s ambition, noting that they enjoyed good relationship as brothers and friends, who were both entitled to the political opinions and pursuits.   He was reacting to a news story, which he said that Ndigbo “would never vote for Peter Obi”, describing it as political mischief.
