Orji Kalu Resumes Duties In Senate

Former Governor of Abia State and current Chief Whip of the Senate Orji Uzor Kalu has resumed duties in plenary days after being released from the Kuje Correctional Centre, Abuja.

Kalu was jailed for twelve years on December 2019 after he was convicted on a seven point one billion Naira fraud alongside his firm, Slok Nigeria Limited.

The Supreme Court however nullified the trial and conviction of Kalu on the grounds that Justice Muhammad Idris, who handled the trial lacked jurisdiction.

Kalu who arrived the Senate at about 9:10 am Tuesday told newsmen that he wants to complete the task he had not attended to for the last six months.

“I just want to thank God for everything that has happened . It is the will of God. I want to urge Nigerians to keep hope alive.” he said.

He added that his constituents still believe in him based on his track record as governor.
