Martha Tilahun Decorated as LEADS Africa's Patriotic Amazon of the Year

Dr. Martha Namundjebo-Tilahun, Chairperson of the United Africa Group (Pty) Limited has been recognized for her immense contributions to Africa's Quest for Development in the critical areas of commerce and industry, also for her charitable strides at supporting young Namibians to acquire education at all levels through her Martha Namundjebo Tilahun Foundation.

Dr. Martha Namundjebo Tilahun who is also chairperson of the Southern Africa Development Commission SADC Chamber of Commerce, is a Namibian businesswoman and politician, born in Odibo village in the north of Namibia. She was raised in Olunghono and went to Engela High School. 


She obtained a BSc degree in Business Administration and Management from Saint Paul's College Lawrenceville, Virginia. Namundjebo further holds an MBA in Finance from the University of California, Berkeley in the United States, and another MBA from
Santa Clara University , likewise in California.

LEADS Delegates from various countries of Western and Southern Africa led by Osisiogu Osikenyi (Nigeria) - Secretary-General of the League converged in her office to make the historic presentation of LEADS Merit Award as Africa's Patriotic Amazon on the 20th day of March 2019 in her office in Windhoek - Republic of Namibia.

In her response, she thanked LEADS for the honor, which she admitted was unexpected, saying that she was raised never to take anything as a surprise.

She called on young people to join hands in fighting the rising spate of depression among students which she has come to note is one of the major cause of male students dropping out of school. She also highlighted the role her foundation has played in supporting students especially young girls in the north to remain in school and pursue a career in life.

She concluded by thanking the group once again, and pledged to be of support in ways she could in partnering with LEADS to enhance her objectives and that of her foundation.
