Eleven Persons Killed In Fresh Benue Attack

Again, the troubled Logo government area of Benue State was attacked by herdsmen early hours of Saturday leading to the death of 11 persons.
The fresh attack is coming barely six days after Fulani herdsmen attacked five communities in Guma and Logo local government areas of the state in which over 20 persons were murdered by herdsmen.
The latest incident, according to reports from the Punch newspaper, happened at Tombo village in Logo local government area of the state.
An eyewitness was quoted as saying that the attackers came to Ukemberagga/ Tsewarves, Tse Toradi, all in Tombo community in Mbagber ward of Gaambe- Tiev of the council area.
Another source claimed that the attackers launched the attack about 11 pm on Friday and lasted till 5 am of Saturday.
Though state police command spokesman, ASP Moses Yamu said only four persons were killed.
The ugly incident was said to have occurred early hours of Saturday when the villagers were asleep.
It was gathered that the herdsmen in their numbers invaded the village, destroyed houses and shot at the inhabitants.
The Chief Press Secretary to the state governor, Mr Terver Akase, confirmed the report.
But the police spokesman said that the attack occurred late on Friday at Tombo village in Mbanaga district and that only four persons were killed.
