Adedoja Asks Court To Annul Secondus' Election As PDP Chairman

A chairmanship aspirant in the recently -concluded Peoples Democratic Party ( PDP )’ s election, Prof. Taoheed Adedoja, has asked a Federal High Court in Abuja to annul the choice of Uche Secondus as chairman.
He also asked the court to order a fresh election, adding that the post-convention peace panel, headed by Governor Seriake Dickson of Bayelsa State, ignored him. Adedoja, who disclosed this in Abuja yesterday, said his name was wrongly spelt by the organisers of the convention as Taoheed Oladoja, instead of Taoheed Adedoja.
Adedoja, who said his exclusion was a breach of the Electoral Act and the constitution, disclosed that his lawyers had filed a suit asking the court to declare any document submitted by the PDP to the Independent National Electoral Commission ( INEC ), null and void.He also asked the court to restrain INEC from recognising Secondus as the national chairman of the PDP.
On the alleged disrespect by the peace panel, Adedoja explained: “The committee Secretary, Ibrahim Tahir, called me on phone last Thursday to state that they were on their way to Ibadan and would want to meet with me. I told them that I would not be available until Sunday, but they never got in touch with me since then.”
Asked to relate his court action with the peace accord that he and eight other aspirants signed before the convention, Adedoja said: “ Yes! I was a signatory to the peace accord signed by all chairmanship aspirants to the effect that all national chairmanship aspirants would accept the outcome of the election. “It was with the proviso that the election would be free and fair. But in this case, the election was not free and fair, hence I am seeking redress in the court of law.”
