Senator Danjuma Goje Loses Wife

Former governor of Gombe state and lawmaker representing Gombe Central in the Senate, Danjuma Goje has lost his wife, Hajiya Yelwa Danjuma Goje who passed away in a hospital in the United States. A statement signed by the son of the deceased, Ahmed Mohammed Goje said the date and time for the funeral prayers will be announced later. According to the statement, the late Hajiya Yelwa is aged 55 and survived by six children and ten grandchildren.  May her soul rest in peace.

The Nigeria Labour Congress NLC has commended the  directive by President Muhammadu Buhari ordering the immediate disengagement from service of the former Chairman of the Pension Reform Task Force, Abdulrasheed Maina. A statement signed by the NLC President, Ayuba Wabba said  the manner of Maina’s re-engagement and posting as Director to the Ministry of Interior is an affront to law and procedure and an insult to Nigerians. Ayuba in the statement also said the re-engagement of Maina  was a mockery of the President’s fight against corruption and the height of arrogance and impunity.

The Nation investigation in Abia, Rivers, Niger, Ogun, Plateau, Bayelsa and Akwa Ibom states revealed that the projects, abandoned at different levels of execution, are left to rot away, even as some of them now harbor criminals, reptiles and other dangerous animals. Most of the projects, we learnt, were initially financed through loans, some of which are still being paid or serviced by the affected states. Court Orders CBN, Banks To Freeze Accounts Without BVN

The Federal High Court in Abuja has ordered the Central Bank of Nigeria and the 19 commercial banks in the country to disclose all accounts in their custody and the balances in such accounts. The court ordered the banks to disclose the details of all such accounts, their owners and their proceeds in their affidavit of compliance deposed to by their Chief Compliance Officers. It also made an interim order directing the banks to freeze all the said accounts by stopping “all outward payments, operations or transactions ” pending the hearing of the substantive application seeking the forfeiture of the balances in the accounts to the Federal Government.
