Anti Saraki protesters storm National Assembly

It was a herculean task for security agencies on Tuesday as hundreds of protesters on the aegis of Society Coalition stormed the National Assembly (NASS) calling for the immediate resignation of the President of the Senate, Bukola Saraki to enable him face his perjury case before the Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT).

The protesters equally kicked against what they described as the orchestrated plan by Senator Saraki to get Senator Kabiru Marafa from Zamfara State suspended over alleged unguarded statement against him (Saraki) and the institution of the Senate.
The protesters specifically urged Saraki to as a matter of national importance and urgency resign from office as President of the Senate.
Members of the Society Coalition further said the resignation of Saraki would help to save the name of the Senate as an institution while he face his trial at the Code of Conduct Tribunal.
Protesters carried different placards bearing innumerable inscriptions, some of which read; NASS is not Kwara State,” Saraki: Resign and save the Senate” “NASS is Centre of Democracy not Facism,” “Stop suspending members leave the Senate and face CCT,” “Democracy survives inclusive not in suspending people of different opinion”, “Suspend Saraki not Marafa” Saraki Must Go,”amongst others.
