Nobel Laureate, Wole Soyinka Loses Daughter

Soyinka and late Iyetade Reports say Nobel Laureate, Wole Soyinka has lost his daughter, Iyetade Soyinka to the cold hands of death. The late  Iyetade Soyinka who was born June 6, 1965, died at the University of Ibadan Teaching Hospital where she was receiving treatment for an ailment yet to be disclosed. May her soul rest in peace, praying that God gives the Soyinka family the strength to bear the irreparable loss.

A federal high court in Abuja, presided over by  Justice Ademola Adeniyi has found Kabiru Sokoto guilty of the crime of terrorism and murder.  According to sahara Reporters the court found Sokoto guilty of being the mastermind of the deadly Christmas day bombing of St. Theresa Catholic church, Madalla, Niger State that killed at least 44 people  in 2011. Sokoto was a member of the Shura council of Islamist sect Boko Haram according to his personal testimony during the trial.

ASUU Calls off 5 Month Old Strike

The Academic Staff Union of Nigerian Universities ASUU has officially called off its over five month old strike. Reports from the Federal University of Technology (FUT), Minna, the Niger State capital  venue of the Union's National Executive Council meeting says the Union arrived at the latest decision to suspends its strike after a marathon session. It would be recalled that after a protracted debate, the Federal Government and ASUU reached a compromise during a negotiation brokered by the President of the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC), Comrade Abdulwaheed Omar few days ago.

Murderous ritual gang busted in Imo state

The Nkwerre Vigilante Network this week arrested a six-man gang specialized in the sale of human parts for rituals and transplant in Nkwerre, Imo State, South East Nigeria. The men confessed to kidnapping their victims at various locations in the state and using their parts for ritual purposes. Some parts they sold to people who needed them for transplant. The men, who are mostly bricklayers, confessed that they sell the parts from N500k to N1million, depending on the parts in demand. The men took the vigilante network members and some policemen to their hideout which is a forest in Umugara Village in Nkwerre. There, police found the decomposing corpses of some of their victims, mostly women and children. The following pictures are gruesome, viewer discretion advised.
