BBC Media Action MESSAGE Programme ends

The BBC Media Action (formerly BBC World Service Trust), Nigeria, with financial support from the United Agency for International Development (USAID) implemented the Media Support for Strengthening Advocacy, Good Governance and Empowerment (MESSAGE) Project from October 1, 2009 – September 30, 2012 in Nigeria.

Across 3 years of the life cycle of the MESSAGE Project, 120 media practitioners drawn from 24 media partner stations in 8 focal states benefited from skills and knowledge in program packaging and investigative reports from the BBC Media Action’s thematic technical trainings, co-production, coaching/mentoring and iLEARN, while 60 media practitioners benefited from the media bursary award to enable them undertake investigative reports.

As a build up on
the MESSAGE project’s impact on  capacity building work done over the years, BBC Media Action brought together 120 media practitioners in Abuja, in order to share best practices, success stories and  challenges met for documentation and replication.

The event which took place at the Best Western Plus Ajuji Hotel in Abuja also included the presentation of media equipment to some winners of the media bursary award.
